Battered Woman Admits She Gunned Down Cheating Husband at Work

A woman is facing murder charges after allegedly gunning down her husband while confronting him about his infidelity at his job.

Shazetta Jackson-Pickett, 41, of Glenn Heights, Texas, remains jailed in a Dallas County jail on $200,000 bond, according to jail records. Police told the Dallas Morning News that Jackson-Pickett shot her husband, Chester Pickett, 37, on March 17 at his workplace in Dallas, where she went to “discuss ongoing issues in their marriage,” according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by the newspaper.

But another woman was already with Pickett, prompting the couple to argue about their marriage and prompting Jackson-Pickett to threaten to kill herself with a gun she pulled out of her car.

But Jackson-Pickett had a sudden change of heart when she overheard her husband talking about her on the phone, causing her to turn the gun on him, according to the affidavit.

Police records cited by the newspaper indicate that Jackson-Pickett later confessed to detectives to shooting her husband. She also told relatives that she wanted to kill herself when calling them to discuss what she had done, the affidavit states.

The Houston Chronicle reports that a GoFundMe campaign had been established for Jackson-Pickett, claiming she was the victim of a violent relationship spanning two decades, but the fundraiser has been removed.

Charles Caperton, Jackson-Pickett’s attorney, said his client had been abused for years by Pickett, who had been previously been convicted of aggravated assault for attacking her, he said.

Caperton had yet to speak to Jackson-Pickett on the charges she faces, he told The Post.
