Five children and three adults were found dead in a suburban Houston home, authorities said Sunday.
Police arrived at 2211 Falling Oaks around 9 p.m. Saturday to perform a welfare check, and learned the man in the home was wanted on a warrant for aggravated assault on a member of his family.
The cops surrounded the home, and spotted a child’s body through a window, police said.
The officers forced their way inside, causing the 49-year-old suspect to start shooting, cops said.
The cops retreated, and about an hour later, the man surrendered, authorities said.
“Homicide detectives have taken over the operation along with our crime scene unit,” Harris County Sheriff spokesman Thomas Gilliland told KHOU-TV.
“Due to the amount of victims and the proximity to the people in the house, it’ll be a scene that’s going on for a while.”
