Los Angeles police are searching for a bungling burglar who accidentally took a selfie with his victim's phone.

The male burglar entered the home in Speedway early in the morning on July 11, reports KTLA 5.

Three females were in the house at the time the burglar struck, including two 15-year-olds.

The burglar took off after taking the unintended selfie, taking the phone with him.

While the burglar rummaged through the house he picked up an iPhone and accidentally activated a video application, before he took off with the phone.

The video recorded him standing in the victims' living room.Los Angeles Police Department described the burglar as a black man and wearing a dark hat.
