Fogle Got Kiddie Porn From Head of His Youth Charity
Jared Fogle got his jollies viewing secretly recorded nude videos of underage teens he met at “social events” in his home state of Indiana — and he even knew some of them by name, the feds charged on Wednesday.
Fogle allegedly scored his stash of kiddie porn from the former head of his charitable Jared Foundation, which the slimmed-down sandwich eater set up to battle youth obesity.
Russell Taylor used cameras hidden inside clock radios to record children bathing, showering and changing clothes inside his current and former Indianapolis homes, according to court papers.
In one video seized by authorities, “Taylor’s face is visible while he is looking toward the camera and adjusting the aiming point,” court papers say.
Taylor allegedly first shared some of the filth with Fogle in March 2011, and continued through April 29, when Taylor was busted by a task force focused on violent crimes against children.
During that time, Fogle received a “significant amount” of Taylor’s horrible handiwork, featuring a dozen different girls and boys, all under the age of 18, court papers say.
While discussing Taylor’s alleged dirty deeds, Fogle “made comments approving of this activity,” according to the feds.
The videos and images “included a lascivious exhibition of the genitals or pubic area of the minors, while some material also included other sexually explicit conduct depending upon the minors involved and precise content,” the papers allege.
“If Mr. Fogle had done the right thing when he learned of the victimization of the first victim — the first girl, who was 14 — if he’d reported that to authorities, victims 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 never would have been sexually victimized,” prosecutor Steve De Brota said at a news conference.
"So we’re holding him responsible for all of that victimization. He didn’t do the right thing."
“What he chose instead to do was profit from that exploitation and get the result for his own benefit and his own use.”
As part of his planned guilty pleas, Fogle has agreed to pay $100,000 to each of those 12 victims, as well as two teenage girls he admitted paying for sex during stays at The Plaza and Ritz-Carlton hotels.
Four of the victims are now adults who are in “desperate straits” and need the money to overcome their trauma and straighten out their lives, DeBrota said.
In addition to the homemade smut, Taylor also allegedly gave Fogle “commercially” produced kiddie porn he downloaded through file-sharing sites on the Internet.
“The presently unidentified minors in these images and videos were as young as approximately 6 years of age and they were engaged in sexually explicit conduct,” court papers say.
Taylor, who attempted suicide in jail following his arrest, has a past that includes working as a youth market director for the American Heart Association of Indiana.
Taylor’s lawyer, Brad Banks, declined to comment.
