Ohio Mom Bashes 4-Week-Old Son In Head Because He Cried Too Much
A 22-year-old mother in Cincinnati has been charged with assault after acknowledging she repeatedly punched her 2-month-old son in the head because his crying disrupted her sleep, police said.
Peek Gaddis "admitted to becoming frustrated with her son … because he was crying and making it difficult for her to sleep," according to a sworn statement submitted by a Colerain Township police officer, Fox19 reported.
"Ms. Gaddis admitted to striking her son several times with her fist," the statement said.
The baby suffered several fractures to his tiny skull as well as internal bleeding in his brain, authorities said.
Gaddis, a nurse's aide, has been investigated by child welfare authorities before -- once in 2010 and another time in 2013.
Details of those cases were not available because of child protection laws. She was charged Thursday with second-degree felonious assault. Hamilton County Judge Ted Barry set bail at $15,000 and ordered her to have no contact with the baby and two other children.
"Children are precious gifts God gives us," the judge admonished her. "And you're a nurse on top of that? A nurse's aide?"
